Before turning to writing full-time in 2023, Adam worked as a registered mental health nurse specialising in learning disabilities, a background that lends his characters an unusual emotional authenticity. Beswick began storytelling in the most personal of ways: crafting original bedtime stories for his children. With six core novels in the series and additional novellas and companion pieces, the saga is one of the most ambitious self-published dark fantasy epics in British indie fiction.

The Spirit Beast Saga (originally launched as Arnold Ethon and the Lions of Tsavo in 2019) represents an earlier facet of Beswick's storytelling - a power-progression adventure following a young protagonist whose bond with supernatural spirit beasts drives a coming-of-age narrative across three books. The series showcases Beswick's range, blending YA-friendly adventure sensibilities with the progression fantasy mechanics that would become more prominent in his later work.

Beswick's newer series - Chronicles of Argosia, Chaos Blade, and Aviara Academy - continue his exploration of dark fantasy with different flavours. Aviara Academy brings a magical academy setting, while Chaos Blade leans into high-action progression fantasy with morally complex protagonists facing extraordinary odds. Across all of these, recurring elements emerge: protagonists who start at a deficit, power systems that require genuine sacrifice, found family forged through shared suffering rather than shared origin, and worlds that refuse to protect their characters from consequence.

In 2024, Beswick was nominated as a TikTok Breakthrough Author, recognising the community he has built across social media and direct-to-reader sales. He now runs A. P. Beswick Publications, an independent publishing house that handles his own series and supports other indie fantasy authors, including a dark fantasy romance imprint, Arcane Passion Press. All books are personally signed by the author and fulfilled directly, a model that reflects Beswick's belief in authentic connection with readers over the intermediary structures of traditional publishing.

Off the page, Beswick practises the art of bonsai - cultivating miniature trees with the same patience and attention to detail that he brings to his intricate narratives. He is a devoted parent, and the domestic heart of his origin story as a writer has never left his work: even in worlds of dark magic and political treachery, it is the bonds between people - the loyal companions, the grudging alliances that become something more, the family you choose when the one you had is gone - that define what his characters are fighting for.
