Undisguised Healer is Jonathan Brooks's 2024 third installment in the Earthen Contenders series, shifting Thaden's situation from reactive flight to active responsibility as the consequences of events in the city of Forgestone force him onto a path he didn't choose but cannot in good conscience abandon. The hunt for anchor dungeons - those specifically tied to the quest consequences he must address - provides narrative structure alongside the broader world exploration, with each dungeon encounter demonstrating his continued creative application of healing and protection abilities in situations designed for combat-focused Contenders.

Brooks uses the third book to develop Thaden's character beyond the immediate survival pressures of the earlier installments, with the voluntary acceptance of responsibility for unintended consequences revealing dimensions of his personality that pure survival scenarios couldn't.
